Vehicle Preview: 2020 Ford Escape
Ford is on a quest to have the freshest and most intelligent new vehicle lineup anywhere, and the 2020 Escape is the latest example of its success in that mission. The exceedingly stylish new Escape is made to move, offering a diverse powertrain lineup, cutting-edge safety and connectivity technologies and a spacious and versatile interior. Ideal for individuals and families alike, the 2020 Ford Escape is a segment standout.
The 2020 Ford Escape offers four distinct engines to meet the needs of drivers of all different dispositions. The standard 1.5-liter EcoBoost® with Auto Start-Stop Technology provides a great balance of performance and fuel economy, meeting the needs of most. For more power, more capability and a more hands-on feel, the available 2.0-liter EcoBoost® works with an eight-speed SelectShift® automatic with paddle shifters to ramp up the excitement. With the available Class II Trailer Tow Package, the 2.0-liter EcoBoost®-equipped Escape Titanium is plenty capable with a max towing rating of up to 3,500 pounds.
Perhaps the most exciting development in terms of performance is the addition of a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle powertrain, which leverages an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission and an 88-kilowatt electric motor for superior efficiency. This powertrain is available on the Escape Hybrid and, beginning in spring 2020, the Escape plug-in hybrid. It’s expected that the front-wheel drive Escape Hybrid will deliver an EPA-estimated range of 550 miles on a single tank, making it an exceptional road-trip vehicle.*
Available for models equipped with the EcoBoost® engines and for the Escape Hybrid, All-Wheel Drive Disconnect helps you handle more confidently in inclement weather. Thanks to its ability to disconnect the rear driveline in normal driving conditions, AWD Disconnect improves efficiency and intelligence over conventional AWD, making the 2020 Escape an even more adept performer.
Space and smarts
Ford didn’t settle on making the 2020 Escape the best-performing version yet. It also sought to make the new Escape the most versatile and family friendly, and it achieved by providing more interior space and more tech. In the 2020 Ford Escape, second-row passengers enjoy a best-in-class 40.7 inches of leg room, cutting down on the potential for restlessness on long trips.** In cases where more room for cargo is needed, the 60/40 split-fold second row with new sliding feature enables you to take advantage of up to 65.4 cubic feet of space. Even with a full house, the Escape can fit up to 37.5 feet behind the second row, and it makes that space all the easier to access with an available hands-free foot-activated liftgate.
The 2020 Ford Escape is also the smartest and most advanced yet, featuring standard Ford Co-Pilot360™ driver-assist technology and FordPass Connect™ with 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity for up to 10 devices. Available SYNC® 3 offers more functionality than ever with built-in Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, Waze and Alexa integration to help you stay informed, entertained and connected. Going further in terms of safety, the Escape offers two available class-exclusive driver-assistive features: Active Park Assist 2.0 and Evasive Steering Assist. With these technologies as well as an all-new available heads-up display and 12.3-inch all-digital instrument display, the new Escape is among the most tech-savvy vehicles Ford offers.
The dynamic and well-rounded 2020 Ford Escape marks the Blue Oval brand’s latest step in distancing itself from the pack and offering drivers more bang for their buck. You can find the all-new, all-exciting Escape at Ford dealerships nationwide.
