Vehicle Profile: 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is one of the world’s most iconic American cars. Combining awesome track-day performance with a relatively affordable price tag, the Corvette Stingray is also luxurious, surprisingly comfortable, and practical. It’s one of the few cars in its segment you could realistically drive every day.
Mid-engine performance
The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray delivers exceptional road and track performance thanks to a mid-engine, 6.2-liter LT2 V8 powertrain. Because the engine is positioned behind the driver but ahead of the rear axle, the Corvette Stingray benefits from enhanced agility and nimbleness over the previous generation’s front-engine models. The V8 engine pushes 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that can be used in automatic or manual mode depending on your mood.
The Corvette Stingray employs a variety of high-tech powertrain features to boost drivability, efficiency, and performance, such as variable valve timing, direct fuel injection, and an active fuel management system. With the Z51 Performance Package, the car also benefits from high-performance summer tires, an electronic limited-slip differential, an aero-enhancing front splitter and rear spoiler, and special tuning for the brakes, suspension, exhaust, and transmission.
Giving the driver an extra measure of control over the Corvette Stingray’s performance are six driving modes, including a user-customizable mode that lets you mix and match your favorite settings. Thanks to these features and its general ease of use, the Corvette Stingray is a car you can easily drive every day at the pace you desire — especially if you opt for the available Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension.
Interior features and luxury

Though the Chevy Corvette is a performance icon, its interior leaves nothing to be desired. In fact, as far as fast sports cars go, you’ll be hard-pressed to find one that comes with quite as many comfort- and convenience-enhancing features as the Corvette Stingray while also matching its speed and price. It even has two cargo trunks offering 13 cubic feet of cargo space — one at the front and one at the rear, the latter of which is roomy enough to accommodate two sets of golf clubs stacked on top of each other.
Material quality and seated comfort are also among the Corvette Stingray’s strengths. Sporty heated and ventilated bucket seats wrap around a variety of body types to provide excellent support during spirited drives, as well as lasting comfort on road trips. Sewn leather, carbon fiber trim, and sueded microfiber headliner cover the majority of surfaces, further enhancing the cabin’s premium feel.
High-tech infotainment
Every 2022 Corvette Stingray is equipped with the responsive and easy-to-use Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus system. It runs on an 8-inch touch-screen display that supports Bluetooth® hands-free audio streaming, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, and has a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot that supports up to seven devices. Even more notable is the fully digital, 12-inch gauge cluster, which you’ll probably find yourself viewing a lot more than the 8-inch display, as it can display just about anything you need to see on its configurable gauges.
Every Corvette Stingray also has a high-definition rearview camera, rear parking sensors, and enhanced voice recognition. Some of the best optional features are the Performance Data Recorder for analyzing your track day performance, Bose® 14-speaker audio system (though the base 10-speaker system is excellent), wireless charging pad, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
In the high-end sports car world, you typically need to pick two out of the following three traits: affordability, performance, and everyday usability. The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray breaks the mold by offering a compelling combination of all three.
