The 2019 GMC Yukon XL is more than just a roomy, luxurious full-size SUV — it’s a capable, adventure-ready machine. With two powertrains, an impressive towing capacity and the latest trailering technology, the Yukon XL is engineered to help you get the most out of your weekend excursions.

Powertrains and performance

2019 GMC Yukon XLWith the 2019 GMC Yukon XL, you can pick between two exceptional powertrains. The Yukon XL comes standard with a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 and a six-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain puts out a hearty 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. When you opt for the XLT or Denali trim levels, you can enjoy the beastly 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It’s capable of laying out 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. No matter which you choose, you’ll get a durable powertrain with efficient Active Fuel Management technology, which activates or deactivates four cylinders based on the engine’s load and power demands.

Towing capabilities

From bumper to bumper, the GMC Yukon XL is designed for confident trailering. This full-size SUV comes standard with a trailering hitch platform, a 2-inch trailering receiver and a seven-wire harness with independent, fused trailering circuits paired to a seven-way connector. Opt for the Heavy-Duty Trailering Package to tap into your Yukon XL’s full potential. You’ll be rewarded with a maximum towing capacity of 8,300 pounds, so you’ll never have to leave your boat, trailer or ATV behind.*

Trailering technology

Thanks to its high-tech trailering features, the Yukon XL is both strong and smart. If you need a little extra push while trailering, hit the button for Tow/Haul mode. This raises your transmission’s upshift and downshift points to give you better acceleration and braking. When you pick the Heavy-Duty Trailering Package, you get even more tools. Keep your trailer on track with Trailer Sway Control, which uses StabiliTrak® to detect a swaying trailer and correct it by intelligently applying both the Yukon’s and the trailer’s brakes. For even more precision, use the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, which puts your trailer’s brakes at your fingertips. It even displays the level of brake force on the Yukon XL’s Driver Information Center.

If you’ve got loads of gear to haul on your next camping trip, a boat to take out to the lake, or a horse you want to bring along for exploring the bridle trails, the Yukon XL has you covered. With its confident performance, brawny towing capabilities and advanced technology, the 2019 GMC Yukon XL takes the stress out of trailering.

*Yukon XL’s 8,300-lb rating requires 2WD with 5.3L EcoTec3 V-8 engine and Heavy-Duty Trailering Package. Before you buy a vehicle or use it for trailering, carefully review the trailering section of the Owner’s Manual. The weight of passengers, cargo and options or accessories may reduce the amount you can tow.
