Vehicle Profile: 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe
The 2019 CLS Coupe is all-new and all-compelling
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe is all-new for 2019, featuring new style, innovative technologies and superb performance. As the flagship model in the Mercedes-Benz model lineup, the bar is set high for the 2019 CLS Coupe — but as you will find out, it does indeed live up to expectations.
New turbocharged engine
With a new generation comes a new engine. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe debuts with an all-new, inline six-cylinder engine that uses turbocharging and EQ Boost technology to enhance power and responsiveness. The EQ Boost system includes an integrated starter-generator and 48-volt lithium-ion battery that enables free-fuel costing and kinetic energy recovery while adding 21 horsepower to the combustion engine’s 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Using a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission, the car delivers all of that power smoothly and seamlessly, not to mention with almost imperceptible, lightning-fast gear shifts. Other performance features include 4MATIC® all-wheel drive, the DYNAMIC SELECT multimode drive selector and AIR BODY CONTROL adaptive air suspension.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe now comes with seating for five passengers — up from four in previous years — thanks to the development of full-width rear seats that don’t compromise space or comfort. These can be folded in a 40/20/40 split to accommodate passengers and cargo in a variety of ways. In the front, you and your passenger are treated to ultra-configurable power seats with heating, ventilation, memory and massage features. The smooth-grain designo Nappa leather upholstery perfectly complements the DINAMICA headliner, and along with 64-color LED ambient lighting and the new Air Balance cabin fragrance system, these are just some of the many luxurious features that make the interior of the 2019 CLS Coupe truly welcoming.
An almost overwhelming amount of driver assistance and safety features are offered in the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe. While some work in the background so seamlessly as to never be noticed, such as Predictive Brake Priming and Automatic Brake Drying, others actively enhance your awareness behind the wheel and can intervene to help avoid accidents or mitigate their impact. ATTENTION ASSIST®, for example, can detect signs of drowsiness. Active Lane Keeping Assist can use the brakes to guide you back into your lane when drifting unintentionally, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert can automatically apply the brakes to avoid a collision with a car when reversing.
Beautifully styled, luxuriously appointed, satisfyingly powerful and full of clever features, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe is the kind of car that will leave you wanting for nothing.
