Vehicle Profile: 2021 Ford Explorer

2021 Ford Explorer
The 2021 Ford Explorer is packed inside and out with features to keep you and your family safe and cozy on your next road trip. Whether you’re planning a long highway drive or a dirt-road adventure, the Explorer’s rugged powertrain, comfortable interior, and impressive technology features make it the ideal road trip buddy.

The 2021 Ford Explorer is available at five trim levels: Explorer, XLT, Limited, ST, and Platinum.

Ready for adventure

The 2021 Ford Explorer’s athletic design is ideal for exploring the great outdoors. A rear-wheel drive powertrain helps improve driving capability and handling both on and off road. The available Intelligent 4WD comes with Terrain Management System with seven drive modes (Normal, Trail, Deep Snow/Sand, Slippery, Sport, Tow/Haul, and Eco) for excellent handling in all conditions. You can also tow up to 5,600 pounds when the Explorer is properly equipped with the class III trailer tow package and the 3.0-liter V6 engine, allowing you to bring a trailer or camper along for the adventure.

Interior comfort

Comfort is of utmost importance when you’re off on an adventure, and the Explorer delivers. Three rows offer seating for up to seven passengers, or you can fold the third row to open up more cargo space. Choose the available third-row PowerFold® seats to make it easier to switch up the space from seating to cargo at the touch of a button. Entry to the third row is simple thanks to the E-Z Entry second row, which folds the seats quickly even if a car seat is installed.

Keeping you connected

Whether you’re driving your daily commute or heading across the country on an epic adventure, it’s important to stay connected. The Explorer comes equipped with a standard 8-inch touch-screen display, or you can upgrade to a massive 10.1-inch LCD screen with portrait orientation so you can more easily view maps, messages, or podcasts. You can also connect your Explorer to Amazon Alexa via a smartphone app, which then allows you to access voice navigation, traffic information, and Amazon Prime shopping without taking your hands off the wheel. If you have smart devices in your home, you can control them from your car so you won’t need to worry whether you turned the lights off or the thermostat down before you left.

Safety first

The 2021 Ford Explorer comes equipped with Ford Co-Pilot 360 at no extra charge. This suite of safety technologies includes a Rear View Camera, Automatic Emergency Braking, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, a Lane-Keeping System, and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®). Together, these technologies are designed to be a second set of eyes when you’re on the road, though no technology replaces a physical driver when it comes to safety.

When you’re looking for a capable SUV that’s equally at home on city streets and highways as it is in the backcountry, you can’t get much better than the 2021 Ford Explorer.
