Biggest Auto Fundraiser Ever to Benefit the Bigs

Bill Marsh and Serra Traverse City joined forces for a BIG goal: to raise $55,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan during the Bigs Drive for 55 Fundraiser — and they delivered in a BIG way.

The goal was surpassed and $57,089 was raised! These funds will help the Bigs eliminate their waitlist and move children into impactful mentorship services that are so greatly needed.

"We are thrilled with this year's results! This is the most the auto dealerships have ever raised during this annual event,” said Cecilia Chesney, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters. "Serra and Marsh clearly understand the impact our program has on children in our community, and we could not be more grateful.”

Ron Smith was again the Top Fundraiser, bringing in $10,201.83 in donations thanks in part to his Moomer’s ice cream-delivery fundraiser, Kones for Kids.

The Serra team was presented with the Defender of Potential Award. When the Bigs and Bill Marsh teams approached them about participating in the auto dealership Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser this year, they didn’t hesitate to jump right in and help make this year’s event the biggest to date.

“What a privilege it is to work with such great people and support an amazing program impacting our local children,” said Jim Tuohy, Executive Manager of Serra Traverse City.

Furlie Hensley and Ryan Stewart of the Bill Marsh Detail Center were also presented with the Defender of Potential award. They organized both the Car Detail Benefit and the Disc Golf Tournament Benefit, bringing in $1,800 in donations for the Bigs.

“Drive for 55 was really a community effort — we had so much support from our vendor partners, customers and friends. This is a testament to the critical work that the Bigs do in this community and the impact they have on young people,” said Bill Marsh Jr.

The awards were presented during a celebratory culmination of the Drive for 55 and Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraising efforts on May 8th, 2019 at Incredible Mo's.
