Vehicle Preview: 2020 Volkswagen Passat

The redesigned 2020 Volkswagen Passat retains the same platform and engine as the previous model year. However, it introduces a fresh exterior and interior, along with the latest high-tech amenities.

The outside of the 2020 VW Passat boasts minor tweaks. It comes standard with 17-inch wheels, though you can upgrade to 18- or 19-inch ones. The front of the model borrows style cues from the brand’s Atlas and Tiguan SUVs. For instance, the badging is more pronounced, while the LED headlights and taillights are more slender.

At the time of writing, Volkswagen has yet to release the model’s exact dimensions. However, preliminary photos indicate a more spacious interior than the outgoing model year. The 2020 Passat comes standard with cloth upholstery, but you can opt for V-Tex leatherette or Nappa leather seating for a more refined vibe. Heated front seats, Climatronic® dual-zone climate control and a sunroof elevate the cabin.

Convenient tech

The 2020 Passat also includes purposeful tech to simplify your life and keep passengers engaged on long drives. Available remote start will let you cool down or warm up the vehicle from a distance, so you can begin each journey at a comfortable temperature. VW Car-Net® Security & Service pairs with your smartphone to offer even more convenience. The sunroof rain notification and open vehicle notification help you protect your investment. There’s also a parking information feature that simplifies city parking. This tool scouts out off-street parking spaces near a destination, then sends the location of this spot to the vehicle’s navigation system.

Driver assistance features

Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist will help the driver stay alert on long drives. The first tool automatically adjusts the vehicle’s speed in relation to the vehicle up ahead. The second tool triggers an alert when it senses that the vehicle is drifting outside of the lane lines. Blind Spot Monitor acts as a second pair of eyes, notifying you when a vehicle is hanging out in your blind spot. Front Assist and Rear Traffic Alert are two additional technologies the 2020 Passat offers.

The new 2020 Passat perfectly balances style, technology and comfort. Test drive one for yourself when Volkswagen releases it later this summer.
