2020 shows promise of being a great year for music. With many popular artists having already announced new albums and other artists expected to bring exciting, new sounds to the music industry, there’s a lot to look forward to. Here are a few albums to check out this year.

“Walls”

Louis Tomlinson will be releasing his debut solo album on Jan. 31. While he has put out several singles since 2016, he is the only member of One Direction who has yet to release a full-length solo album, so “Walls” is exciting for avid fans of the band. In 2019, Tomlinson dropped the three singles, “Kill My Mind,” “Two of Us” and “We Made It,” which will be featured on the album. In total, there will be 12 songs on the pop album.

“Treat Myself”

Meghan Trainor will also be releasing an album on Jan. 31. Trainor originally announced her third album, “Treat Myself,” in 2018 and was supposed to release it that summer. However, after multiple delays, she pushed the album back until 2020. To hold fans over while they waited for the album, she unveiled the six-track EP, “The Love Train.” The much-anticipated album includes the singles, “Wave,” “Workin’ On It” and “No Excuses,” along with 12 other tracks.

“The Slow Rush”

On Valentine’s Day, Tame Impala’s “The Slow Rush” is set to come out. The groups’ fourth album is arriving long after their third album, “Currents,” received much praise and a variety of awards in 2015. The Australian group has been focusing its efforts on the new album for over a year. During 2019, Tame Impala released the singles “Borderline” and “It Might Be Time,” which will both appear on the alternative album.

“How I’m Feeling”

Most known for his hit single, “I Like Me Better,” Lauv is following up on the song’s success with the new album, “How I’m Feeling.” The album will be available on March 6 and consist of 21 tracks in total, including “Sad Forever,” “Feelings” and “Sims.” When announcing the album, the singer revealed the unique album cover that features six characters that represent the main aspects of his identity. The cover correlates with the album, which will touch on the different parts of his personality.

“Van Weezer”

Having had a loyal fan base since the 1990s, it’s likely that Weezer’s “Van Weezer” will further the success of the alternative band. The 10-track album won’t be released until May 15. However, the band already put out the single, “The End of the Game” in 2019. Rivers Cuomo says that the album will be reminiscent of their popular debut studio album, Blue Album. Shortly after the new album is unveiled, Weezer will go on tour with Fall Out Boy and Green Day.

No matter your taste in music, there is a multitude of new albums coming in 2020, including the aforementioned ones, that are worth checking out on your own.
