Capability, utility, and tech make this midsize truck stand out

2022 Chevrolet Colorado
Brawny capabilities, rugged features, and advanced technologies help the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado hold its own in nearly any situation. With its maneuverable midsize dimensions and durable design, the Colorado is a versatile truck choice for the worksite, the trail, family hauling, and more.

Performance and capabilities

Three engine options give the 2022 Colorado plenty of towing and hauling power. With the standard 2.5-liter engine, you’ll get 200 horsepower, along with a maximum payload of 1,716 pounds and a max tow rating of 3,500 pounds. The available 3.6-liter V6 generates 308 horsepower to go with a 2,074-pound payload max and the ability to tow up to 7,000 pounds. There’s also a Duramax® 2.8-liter turbo-diesel option, which provides 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, a 2,274-pound max payload, and up to 7,700 pounds of towing capacity.

The Colorado’s capability extends off-road as well. All trims offer standard or available 4WD. The trail-centric Z71 trim adds an off-road suspension and Hill Descent Control, while the ZR2 gets even more all-terrain equipment: a two-speed transfer case, locking differentials, Multimatic shocks, skid plates and rock sliders, and a 48 mm suspension lift.

Exterior features

The Colorado’s exterior design balances utility. The cargo box is available in long-bed and short-bed configurations, and it comes with standard equipment like the CornerStep rear bumper and a locking tailgate. Available work features include a bedliner with built-in storage, cargo tie-downs, and the EZ-Lift and Lower tailgate. You can also add the Trailering Package, which comes with a receiver hitch, a harness and connector for lights and brakes, and other essential towing features.

On the style side, the Colorado is available with several 17-inch and 18-inch aluminum wheel designs, chrome trim elements, and exterior accent lighting. The blacked-out Midnight Special Edition package and the red-and-black Redline Edition add extra levels of customization.

Interior design

Inside, the 2022 Colorado provides a comfortable environment with available features like a six-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support settings, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and automatic climate control. Depending on the trim level, the truck’s seats can be upholstered in vinyl, cloth, leatherette, or leather. In its crew cab configuration, the Colorado offers plenty of space for up to five passengers, plus available USB charging ports and underseat storage for second-row occupants.

Infotainment and safety technologies

Numerous tech features help to ensure connectivity and protection for the Colorado’s passengers. The standard 7-inch touch screen provides an AM/FM stereo, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto integration for smartphones, Bluetooth® audio streaming, and a three-month SiriusXM® trial subscription. Higher trims contribute built-in navigation, voice recognition technology, a seven-speaker Bose® audio system, and a Wi-Fi® hotspot.

For safety assistance, the Colorado comes standard with a rearview camera, electronic traction control, and Teen Driver technology to help young drivers learn good habits. The Colorado can also be equipped with available systems like Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Rear Park Assist.

With a strong combination of capability, utility, and tech, the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado makes its case as a compelling option for midsize truck customers.
