Vehicle Profile: 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD
Hearty power and tireless capability for any job

The all-new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD looks great, but it’s far more than a lifestyle accessory or a fun ride — it’s a tough, effective machine that’s ready to be your next workhorse. With brutal power, sturdy capabilities and useful features, the Silverado HD is designed to make your daily grind and weekend projects more productive.

Power for any job

With the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD, you can always count on having the power you need to get the job done. Both Silverado HD models — the 2500HD and the slightly larger 3500HD — come standard with a 6.6-liter V8 engine paired to a six-speed heavy-duty automatic transmission. Designed with a cast-iron block, direct injection and variable valve timing for greater durability and efficiency, this engine puts out a massive 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque.

You can also equip the Silverado HD with an available 6.6-liter Duramax® turbo-diesel engine mated to an all-new Allison® 10-speed automatic transmission. This beast packs even more of a punch: 445 horsepower and an astounding 910 lb-ft of torque.

Hardworking capabilities

Whether you’re hauling a load of gravel, towing a loaded trailer or clearing your neighbor’s driveway after a snowstorm, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD delivers heavy-duty capability you can rely on. When it comes to towing, maximum trailering numbers depend on the model you choose. Properly equipped Silverado 2500HD models can tow up to 18,500 pounds. Silverado 3500HD models can yank up to 35,500 pounds with the help of a gooseneck towing setup. To make towing jobs easier, you can outfit the Silverado HD with available technologies like the Advanced Trailering System, an integrated trailer brake controller and a rearview camera with hitch guidance and hitch view.

Not surprisingly, the Silverado HD can haul a hefty payload as well. The 2500HD can carry up to 3,862 pounds and the 3500HD’s max is 4,398 pounds. For both models, the standard bed can hold 69.5 cubic feet of cargo and the long bed can hold 83.5 cubic feet.

If you plan to use your Silverado HD for plowing snow, it’s easy to mount a plow on the truck’s modular front end. You’ll also want the available Snow Plow Prep Package, which includes a power feed for a roof emergency light, a 220-amp alternator, heavy-duty front springs and underbody skid plates.

Practical features

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD makes it easy to get work done with innovative features and smart design. With every model, you’ll get the Durabed cargo box, made with roll-formed high-strength steel and equipped with 12 tie-down rings (up to 21 are available). The Durabed presents lowered bed walls to accommodate bed-mounted hitching, along with the CornerStep rear bumper and the side BedStep for easier access.
One of the Silverado HD’s handiest tools is the available EZ-Lift tailgate with features like power locking, power release and segment-exclusive power-up/power-down operation. Other practical options for your truck include cargo bed LED lighting, a bed-mounted 120-volt power outlet, a bed-view camera and power-folding heated mirrors.

Boasting two muscular powertrains, impressive towing and hauling abilities and highly functional design, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado has what it takes to endure as your rugged, reliable sidekick — both at home and on the worksite.
